The fifth annual McDonald's Texas Invitational Golf Classic was a success again this year thanks to the 46 teams, countless volunteers and generous sponsors who joined in the event.

Teams gathered early Tuesday morning at the Timber Creek golf club in Friendswood to tee off with a shotgun start at the 27 hole course.

After a long day of golf, three teams reigned victorious. First place went to the Texas Bay Credit Union team, Dennis Barbo, Cory Atkins, Brandon Bridwell and Brian Ellis.

In a record tie, teams from Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union and BOSC Inc. shared second and third place after matching hits from hole to hole. Members of the Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union Team are Joseph Ditta, Jamieson Mackay, Eddie Bonilla and Adam Smith. Members of the BOSC Inc. team are Damon Sonnier, Brent Worthington, Michael Garcia and David Garza.

Other winners include Randy Quin and Erin Carlson, Longest Drive on Creekside #8 for men and ladies; Cory Atkins and Minda Gaddis, Longest Drive on Pines #3 for men and ladies; Mike Aston and Kathleen Escobar, Closest to the Pin on Trails #2 for men and ladies; Bob Austin and Janet Nuzzie, Closest to the Pin on Creekside #4 for men and ladies; and Ned Vela and Tara Battle, Closest to the Pin on Pines #8 for men and ladies.

All funding from the golf classic will be added to the proceeds to the 2016 McDonald's Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament scheduled for November 17-19. The event is one of the largest fundraisers for the Pasadena ISD and Deer Park ISD Education Foundations and attracts as many as 30,000 fans each year.

Over the last 13 years, over 2 million dollars has been contributed to the Pasadena Education Foundation and over $190,000 has been given to the Deer Park ISD Education Foundation to be distributed to teachers in the form of mini-grants.

Hours of planning and organizing to make sure the tournament runs smoothly was accomplished by the McDonald's Texas Invitational Golf Classic committee: Jack Bailey, Chairman, Kathy Bailey, Bob Ellis, Roneka Lee, Jerry Krampen, Wayne Adams, Randy Perry, Sherry and DC Trainer, David Terrell, Cindy Parmer and Isabel Trevino.

The tournament is made possible in no small part by the generous sponsors: Cima Services, IBI Group, Piper Jaffray and Co., Conscious Discipline, Highpoint Insurance Group, Jack and Kathy Bailey, Brock Group, Pasadena Mulch, Andrews Kurth, LLP., Hometrust Mortgage Company, Ameraflex, TASB/E3 Energy Services and JL Wyatt Properties.

Thanks also to: Neighbors Emergency Center, Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, Ameraflex, Wayne Adams, Barbara Walling for raffle prizes; and Academy and ABC Dental for in-kind donations.
