McDonald’s Texas Invitational Officials Present Check To PISD Education Foundation
A check in the amount of $50,000 was presented to the Pasadena Education Foundation by tournament chairman Ben Meador at the PISD Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday evening, January 25, 2006. Many of the tournament steering committee were present at the meeting along with a number of the Pasadena Education Foundation board members. The $50,000 represented the proceeds from the 2005 tournament. Meador stated, “On behalf of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, our steering committee members, the many businesses who helped sponsor the tournament, and the hundreds of volunteers who work so hard each year to make this tournament such a success, we are extremely pleased to present this check to the Foundation.” The tournament has now contributed $85,000 over the past three years. Plans are already underway for the 2006 McDonald’s Texas Invitational

The tournament this year was by far the best in the short three year history since the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce became involved. There was great competition between some great teams that provided some outstanding basketball for the excited fans. It was a wonderful three days that brought many to the City of Pasadena and surrounding area to view our schools, facilities and enjoy the warm hospitality.

We extend sincere appreciation to our tournament sponsors, the 300 hard-working volunteers, our souvenir program advertisers, our steering committee members and especially the 72 teams, coaches and all the fans who attended the games. From all reports we have received the tournament was again a great success. We owe a very special thank you to our major sponsor McDonald’s for partnering with us this year. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with them as our major sponsor. They are definitely a pleasure to work with.
